Project Study Area

The Study Area is meant to capture the geographic area in which the installations’ activities and operations may be impacted by or impact non-military activities and serve as a guide where installations should monitor encroachment challenges to protect the viability of military operations and missions and the health, safety, and welfare of residents. The Study Area is subject to change during this project as more information is developed on existing or potential compatibility issues. The project Study Area covers two geographic locations, identified as North County and South County.

North County

The North County area includes communities around the following installations

  • Presidio of Monterey
    • Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center
    • Defense Human Resources Activity
      • Defense Personnel and Security Research Center
    • Ord Military Community
  • Defense Manpower Data Center Monterey Bay
  • Naval Support Activity Monterey
    • Naval Postgraduate School
    • Naval Research Laboratory Marine Meteorology Division
    • Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center
    • Defense Resource Management Institute
    • National Weather Service Forecast Office for Northern California

South County

The South County area includes communities around the following installations

  • Fort Hunter Liggett
  • Camp Roberts Maneuver Training Center
    • U.S. Army Signal Activity
